Cloncurry Industrial Minerals Pty Ltd (CIM) controls a greater than 7 million tonne high purity quartz resource on the edge of Cloncurry which is presently being studied for suitability to feed a silicon metal smelter using charcoal as the reductant.

CIM’s resource of high purity quartz, HJ Reef, is > 99.6% pure silica, the starting point for silicon metal and silicon products of all sorts. HJ Reef is a ten minute drive from the main street of Cloncurry.

CIM has completed metallurgical testing of this resource to ensure it is suitable for silicon metal production and is now planning for it to underpin the development of a high purity silicon products refinery in Cloncurry.
